Ryan Ganders’ work entitled Loose Associations is a touring Lecture presented by the artist. It could be said that the format and consistency of the lecture is reminiscent to that of a conversation amongst friends around a table in a pub, that is to say its subject roams aimlessly, linked only by seemingly trivial facts. Version 1.1 incorporates forty-eight linked phenomena of the everyday, associated with hidden languages and abbreviations, shown using video, images and sound. Recently the artist has written an additional version 1.2 and is currently working on an entirely new Loose Associations lecture (version 2.1) for the Prix de Rome in The Netherlands. Presented in association with Grizedale Arts (who actually commissioned it)
